Apple's Device Protection Plan, AppleCare One, Matches My Long-Sought Wish for Safeguarding Gadgets
Apple Introduces Flexible Device Coverage Plan: AppleCare One
Apple has announced a new device coverage plan called AppleCare One, available exclusively to customers in the US. This subscription service offers a comprehensive solution for protecting up to three Apple devices, starting at just $19.99 per month, with the option to add more devices for $5.99 each per month.
The plan covers a wide range of eligible devices, including iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, some Apple accessories like the Apple Pencil and iPad keyboards, and even older devices up to four years old (except for headphones, which are eligible only up to one year after purchase).
AppleCare One includes all the benefits of AppleCare+, such as unlimited accidental damage repairs (drops and spills), 24/7 priority support from Apple experts, Apple-certified repairs, battery coverage, and extended hardware problem coverage beyond the standard warranty. Notably, AppleCare One expands theft and loss protection beyond iPhones to also cover iPads and Apple Watches, with up to three claims per year.
The plan offers up to three claims for theft or loss each year, compared to two with the Apple Care+ with Theft and Loss plan. It's worth mentioning that Apple will honor theft and loss claims for devices that had Find My enabled.
Same-day repairs for iPhones are available through a network of over 5,000 locations worldwide. Repair and servicing will be available through authorized Apple service outlets worldwide, making it convenient for customers to get their devices fixed no matter where they are.
Trade-ins will be seamless, and Apple CareOne benefits will automatically transfer to the new device during a trade-in. Users can start and stop payments at their convenience, providing flexibility in managing their subscription.
Priority access to round-the-clock customer care is provided with the plan, ensuring quick and efficient support when needed. Battery replacement is included in the plan without any extra fee, and unlimited repairs and replacements for accidental and liquid damage are covered as well.
AppleCare One is a cost-effective option for frequent travelers, offering broad device eligibility and multi-device coverage, making it a more flexible and potentially cost-saving choice compared to individual AppleCare+ plans for each device. However, replacement of lost or stolen devices may take time, depending on the availability of the specific model, especially while traveling overseas.
For customers already covered by AppleCare+, Apple will offer a refund for the remaining term if they switch to AppleCare One. This new service is a testament to Apple's commitment to providing exceptional customer service and device protection.
