On May 14, 2024, the Financial Control of Illegal Work (FKS) of the Main Customs Office Augsburg conducted inspections in 53 hairdressing and cosmetics salons, nail studios, and barbershops. A total of 121 employees were checked by 56 officers.

The inspections revealed several violations. In one instance, a warning fine was issued for failing to maintain records of working hours. Additionally, five criminal proceedings were initiated for illegal residence and social security fraud. Four Vietnamese nationals were found to be residing illegally in Germany, discovered in two nail studios.

Moreover, four administrative penalty proceedings were started for various labor law violations. Two workers, one in a nail studio and another in a hairdressing salon, were found to be working illegally. The FKS performs regular focus inspections to maintain a high level of scrutiny in certain sectors and combat illegal work.

The inspections led to a warning fine, five criminal proceedings, four administrative penalty proceedings, and the discovery of illegal workers. The FKS aims to ensure compliance with social security obligations and minimum wage laws, as well as reduce illegal work in the sector.
