Gene is also survived by his brother Sam Bankston and his wife Kay, and he was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Dorothy Bankston, and his sister Gloria Leamons.
Throughout his life, Gene developed a passion for various pursuits. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, cheering for the Denver Broncos, and sharing tales of his cherished race horses and race cars. He even embarked on a new adventure in 2003, beginning to travel in his RV.
A Celebration of Life for Gene will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 11am to 2PM at VFW Post 9644, located at 2680 W. Hampden Ave. Englewood, CO 80110. This event will be an opportunity for friends and family to gather and remember the life of this remarkable man.
