Cathay Pacific Boosts Presence in Australia and New Zealand

Cathay Pacific, the Hong Kong-based airline, has announced an expansion plan for Australia and New Zealand in 2025. The airline aims to significantly increase flight frequencies and reintroduce seasonal routes to cater to the growing demand.

From 27 October 2025, Cathay Pacific will operate double daily services from Brisbane and Perth. This increase will raise flights to 14 per week for each city. Brisbane's flight frequency will operate as CX150 or CX156, while Perth's flights will operate as CX144 or CX140.

In addition to this, seasonal services to Cairns and Adelaide will operate from 10 December 2025 to 28 February 2026. Cairns will have a seasonal service operating three times per week, operating as CX146. Adelaide will have a seasonal service operating three times per week from 12 November 2025 to 27 March 2026, operating as CX174.

In New Zealand, Cathay Pacific will boost its presence with an increase to 11 weekly flights from Auckland starting on 2 December 2025. This increase will cover the Southern Hemisphere summer fully as the seasonal service to Christchurch will return earlier, operating from early December 2025. Christchurch will have a seasonal service operating four times per week from early December 2025 to the end of February 2026, and three times per week throughout March 2026, operating as CX126.

This expansion aligns with Cathay Pacific’s broader network growth alongside Hong Kong International Airport's increased capacity following the new Three-Runway System, supporting Cathay Pacific's status as a leading international hub.

Cathay Pacific and its low-cost subsidiary HK Express will add 18 new destinations in 2025, a huge commitment to expansion. The airline is also recognized for its award-winning inflight service, Michelin-starred dining partnerships, Asia-Pacific's largest inflight entertainment library, and a perfect seven-star safety rating.

With this expansion, Cathay Pacific will now fly to 100 destinations globally as of June 2025, and has been ranked among the top three safest carriers globally this year. The airline has also been recognized as offering the world's best Economy class experience.

  • Cathay Pacific's expansion into Australia and New Zealand in 2025 is not just limited to airline news; it also ties into lifestyle and travel as the airline aims to enhance travel experiences by increasing flight frequencies and reintroducing seasonal routes.
  • The addition of new destinations and the airline's commitment to offering an award-winning inflight service, including Michelin-starred dining partnerships and Asia-Pacific's largest inflight entertainment library, make Cathay Pacific an attractive choice for travelers seeking a premium flying experience.
