Near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), the South Mountain Park and Preserve boasts more than 16,000 acres of pristine Sonoran Desert, making it one of the largest municipal parks in the United States. The Desert Classic Trail, an easy 2.4-mile loop, features iconic saguaro cacti, palo verde trees, and dramatic rock formations.
