On Monday, 28th July 2025, Brussels Airport in Zaventem saw the highest single-day traffic of the year with an impressive 92,000 passengers. This marked the busiest day at the airport since before the COVID-19 pandemic and the busiest day in over five years.

The peak day corresponded with the start and end of holidays in various sectors, the second weekend of the Tomorrowland festival, and a significant period of summer travel abroad. For the entire summer months of July and August, Brussels Airport expects a total of 5.1 million passengers.

Approximately half of the Tomorrowland attendees came from abroad, representing over 200 countries. The Tomorrowland electronic music festival, held in Boom, ended its final weekend on Monday, 28th July. Many of these international attendees had booked their return flights for Monday, contributing to the high passenger count.

To manage the summer rush, Brussels Airport has doubled the number of staff at security and passport control. Bag-drop capacity has been increased, and new rest and food areas have been added. Travellers are advised to pre-book parking if arriving by car and to arrive on time, with no need to arrive unusually early.

To enhance the travel experience, Brussels Airport provided live DJ sets in collaboration with Tomorrowland between the Connector and Pier A on 22nd and 29th July. The Tomorrowland DJ set at the airport was well-received by travellers, with many sharing videos and expressing praise for the initiative.

In addition, an expanded information desk has been opened in the departures hall, and Brussels Airport provides tailored guidance on a dedicated webpage for travellers to plan their arrival time.

For some sectors, Monday marked the start of the summer break, while for others, it signified the end of their holidays. Despite the high traffic, no major incidents have been reported so far this year. Last year's busiest day at the airport went smoothly, setting a positive precedent for this year's peak day.

As we move forward, Brussels Airport continues to prioritise the smooth and efficient travel of its passengers, ensuring that everyone enjoys a hassle-free journey during the busy summer months.
