CII Report Unveils Top Indian Products for Japanese Sourcing and Investment
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has released a comprehensive report, 'Building India-Japan Business Cooperation: Investing in India, Sourcing from Japan', to foster trade and investment between the two nations. The report, published in collaboration with Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, highlights 42 products with high potential for sourcing from India to Japan, using an innovative tool and the Export Specialization Index (ES index).
The report, while not mentioning specific companies, provides valuable insights into sectors of interest for Japanese investors in India. These include mineral fuels and oils, pharmaceutical products, aluminium and articles, and machinery and products. Additionally, it outlines areas for collaboration in new and emerging technologies and details investment climates in seven Indian states, along with their industrial policies and incentives.
The CII report also covers other crucial aspects such as economic conditions, the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), and global value chain integration. It also highlights CII's services to support trade and investment, including market research, facilitation, and networking opportunities.
With a long-standing economic relationship and the CEPA signed in 2011, India and Japan continue to strengthen their commercial ties. The CII report serves as a practical guide for Indian and Japanese companies, identifying lucrative opportunities for collaboration and investment, particularly in the identified product categories and emerging technologies.
