City officials offer Ukrainian kids an enriching week-long holiday experience
In the heart of Germany, the city of Dormagen welcomed 15 Ukrainian children and teenagers for a week of carefree days from August 28th to September 3rd. The vacation program, organised by the Dormagen City Administration, was made possible by generous donations from many local citizens.
The group, accompanied by two caretakers and an interpreter, stayed at the Hotel Ragusa in the city centre. Their itinerary was filled with a diverse range of activities, including a guided tour, ceramic and acrylic painting, a trip to the Cologne Zoo, group cooking sessions, waffle baking, and a visit to the Norbert Gymnasium Knechtsteden.
Mayor Lierenfeld warmly welcomed the children and teenagers at a reception in the town hall. During their stay, they also had the opportunity to meet Ukrainian students at the Norbert Gymnasium Knechtsteden.
The week concluded with a stay at the Raphaelshaus. On their way back home, the group made a stop in Krakow, where they were received by the local shooting club. The children and teenagers gathered positive impressions during their stay in Dormagen and left with memories they will cherish.
Despite the search results not specifying the name of the foundation or organisation that financed the trip, it is clear that the generosity of the Dormagen community played a significant role in making this vacation possible. The children from the Ukrainian community of Bajkiwzi near Ternopil were undoubtedly grateful for the warm welcome and the opportunity to experience a week of fun and learning in Germany.
