On the date of Friday, September 12, 2025, County Councilor Tanja Schweiger invited 30 senior and disability commissioners to an outing in the charming town of Weiden. The day was organised by the Department of Assistance in Difficult Life Situations - Care Support Point Plus.

The group met at the County Council building in Regensburg before setting off for Weiden. Upon arrival, they were treated to a delicious lunch at the Ratskeller Weiden restaurant, a popular local eatery.

After lunch, the senior and disability commissioners had some free time to explore the town. Some visited the Seltmann-Porzellan or Witt Weiden factory outlets, while others took a leisurely stroll through the picturesque old town.

The highlight of the day, however, was the historical city tour that the group received in Weiden. The tour provided insights into the town's rich history and culture, offering a fascinating glimpse into the past.

The outing was not just eventful but also relaxing, allowing the commissioners to unwind and connect with one another. The day was an opportunity for the commissioners to learn about the needs on site and for the County Council to bring its offerings to the people.

The senior and disability commissioners are volunteers in their communities, working tirelessly to address senior policy, inclusion, and accessibility. They are also contact persons for the concerns and wishes of the county citizens.

Employees of the Department of Assistance in Difficult Life Situations - Care Support Point Plus presented a small gift to the guests as a token of appreciation for their volunteer service. Councilor Tanja Schweiger warmly welcomed the guests and expressed her thanks for their dedication.

The group returned to the County Council building in Regensburg around 6 pm, marking the end of a successful and enjoyable outing. The cooperation between the County Council and the local senior commissioners continues to be a valuable asset in addressing the needs of the community.
