During her recent trip to Beirut, Lebanon, for a tourism visit and to spend time with her family, social media influencer and content creator Naya Khoury faced a shocking incident of fraud and legal woes.
In an effort to rent an apartment in the Achrafieh area, Naya collaborated with a person named "H.G." alongside the property owner, "Sonia." As documented in the incident, she paid a total of $4,000 for the rent. However, the two parties refused to give her access to the flat, citing her profession as a social media influencer as the reason for their reluctance.
To make matters worse, they refused to return her money and filed a baseless lawsuit against Naya, falsely accusing her of intending to misuse the apartment for illicit purposes. Due to these false allegations, Naya faced legal barriers that forced her to leave Lebanon.
The aftermath of this ordeal cost Naya over $10,000, including expenses for legal representation and securing logistical support for her departure. In an emotional statement, she expressed her deep disappointment about the painful experience in her home country, describing it as a psychological blow and a significant financial loss.
Naya urged the Lebanese authorities to take immediate action and ensure the accountability of those responsible for this incident. She emphasized the importance of protecting citizens and visitors from exploitation and fraud, especially in cases where weak legal procedures may be exploited.
