Denzel Washington Nonchalantly Reveals His Involvement in Black Panther 3

It's fair to say that there aren't many surprises left in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that can catch us off guard nowadays. Instead, fan events like Disney's D23 convention delight fans by offering sneak peeks of Hollywood stars set to appear in upcoming movies. In a shocking turn of events, acting legend Denzel Washington announced his upcoming roles, hinting at his impending entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically in the next instalment of Black Panther.

During an interview on the Today Show Australia to promote Ridley Scott's Gladiator 2, Washington shared that he didn't feel any pressure joining the sequel despite its previous success. Echoing the sentiments of actor Harrison Ford who starred as Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World, Washington stated his focus was on delivering quality performances with skilled creatives.

At some point, Washington acknowledged his waning number of movies, but before retiring, he wanted to explore uncharted territories. One of the creators he mentioned collaborating with soon was director Ryan Coogler on the third instalment of Black Panther.

Addressing the audience, Washington stated: "These days, it's all about the director, and at this stage of my career, I'm only interested in working with the best. I'm not sure how many more films I have left. It won't be many. I want to do things I haven't done before."

He continued: "I played Othello at 22. Now, I'm set to play Othello again at 70. After that, I'm talking about playing Hannibal. Then, I'll have a chat with Steve McQueen about a movie. Soon enough, Ryan Coogler will write me a role in the next Black Panther film. Later on, I'll star in Othello again. After that, King Lear will be next. And then, I'll hang up my boots."

Washington's involvement in Black Panther is noteworthy because of his association with the late Chadwick Boseman, whom Boseman praised at the 2019 AFI Awards, crediting Washington for the success of Black Panther.

While Washington has a long list of roles planned, fans won't get to see him in a Marvel film anytime soon, giving them ample time to speculate which character from the Black Panther mythos Washington will portray. Share your thoughts below!
