Deutsche Bahn: Major North-South Rail Disruptions Tonight Until Monday
Deutsche Bahn (DB) has announced significant disruptions on key north-south rail lines tonight until Monday morning. This includes the Rhine Valley Railway and the Black Forest Railway, affecting ICE and regional services.
From 9:00 PM tonight until 5:00 AM Monday, ICE line 43 between Hamburg and Basel will only run as far as Karlsruhe. Passengers heading to Basel or beyond will need to switch to IC buses at Karlsruhe. Additionally, ICE line 20 from Hamburg to Zurich will be impacted by these disruptions.
In the Rhine Valley, buses replace trains between Villingen, Donaueschingen, and Engen. Regional traffic in South Baden is also affected, with trains between Freiburg and Müllheim im Markgräflerland completely canceled. The Deutsche Bahn is carrying out construction work on the Rhine Valley and Black Forest Railways during this period.
The Deutsche Bahn advises passengers to check their connections and allow extra time for travel. Replacement buses will be in service during the disruptions. The construction work is part of the ongoing expansion of the Rhine Valley Railway, one of Europe's most important north-south rail axes.
