Sunflower Seeds Spark Security Scare! Ellen Pompeo's Unexpected Airport Incident

Emergency call to bomb squad after suspected device found at Ellen Pompeo's snack set.

Here's a nutshell tale shared by the talented Ellen Pompeo, starring sunflower seeds and a whole lot of theater at the airport! Pompeo, well-known for her role as Meredith Grey on "Grey's Anatomy," shared her strange experience with the travel magazine, "Travel & Leisure."

While preparing for a flight, Pompeo thought she'd packed a practical snack - some fancy organic sunflower seeds. However, these seemingly innocuous seeds were the cause of a security uproar, if not a comedic one. "I had a bag of super fancy, organic, erm, winning-the-lottery-with-my-snack-selection sunflower seeds - from Erewhon, mind you," Pompeo recalled[1]. This divine snack phrase set off airport alarms, leading to the intervention of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and later, the bomb squad!

Pompeo suspected that a chemical on the seeds' packaging was the culprit. In an effort to breeze through screening, she offered to toss the bag, but her overture was denied. Instead, the bomb squad was called, leaving Pompeo wondering if her airline journey was about to end before it even began. Amidst the hubbub, she nearly missed her flight, causing quite the head-scratching predicament. "I can't believe I almost missed my flight because of these sunflower seeds!" she joked to her PR agent[2].

Fear of Flying and Germs

Despite this light-hearted hiccup, Pompeo still appreciates the thrill of travel, even though she struggles with the fear of flying[3]. Her trusty copilots on flights are her three kids, Stella Luna (15), Sienna May (10), and Eli Christopher (8), all shared with husband Chris Ivery. When it comes to the germ-ridden confines of an airplane cabin, Pompeo—much like supermodel Naomi Campbell—doesn't mess about. "I have to clean everything, from the seat to the tray tables, to avoid getting sick," she admitted. Armed with hand sanitizer, water, and baby wipes, she's geared up to conquer the skies, minus those sunflower seeds, of course.

The Commission, assisted by the European Parliament, might discuss the security measures at airports, considering Ellen Pompeo's unusual incident involving sunflower seeds. Despite her fear of germs and unfavorable attitude towards flying, Pompeo still enjoys traveling, often accompanied by her three children, and uses hand sanitizers and wipes to maintain cleanliness in the aircraft. Her lifestyle, comprising fame, family, and frequent travel, is shared with celebrities across the entertainment industry.
