Expanding partnership in Asia: Vietjet Air secures additional 20 orders for A330 aircraft from Airbus

Vietjet Air has announced the order for 20 additional wide-body Airbus A330-900 aircraft during French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Hanoi, reinforcing its partnership with Airbus and its development strategy towards Europe. This new deal follows a similar agreement signed last year for 20 A330-300 aircraft.

According to Vietnam's low-cost airline, the expanded fleet of wide-body aircraft will enable them to boost flights on high-capacity routes within the Asia-Pacific region and establish future long-haul services to Europe. The estimated value of the order is approximately 7 billion euros at list price, as per an Airbus source.

Vietjet Air's CEO, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, expressed their commitment to enhancing connectivity and offering sustainable air travel to millions of passengers not only in Vietnam but around the world. As of Q1 2025, Vietjet's fleet consists of 115 aircraft, all Airbus, which serves various destinations including Australia, India, and Kazakhstan.

The ongoing expansion strategy of Vietjet Air is evident through their recently launched international routes and upcoming direct flights. In Q1 2025, they introduced four new routes linking Vietnam's Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to major cities in China and India. They are set to launch two new direct routes: Phu Quoc to Singapore on May 30, 2025, and Ho Chi Minh City to Auckland in September 2025.

Vietjet Air has also been focusing on strategic partnerships with global companies, opening opportunities for billions of dollars worth of strategic collaborations. The recent inaugural flight to the United States marks a significant step towards strengthening their international footprint.

The expanded fleet of Vietjet Air, now including 40 Airbus A330 aircraft, is aimed at increasing flights on high-capacity routes across the Asia-Pacific region and establishing long-haul services to Europe, contributing to a sustainable lifestyle by providing accessible travel options for millions worldwide. With this new transport infrastructure, Vietjet Air plans to further boost their international connections and expand their reach to destinations like Singapore, New Zealand, and beyond.
