FIDIC and Solar Impulse Foundation Team Up for Sustainable Engineering
FIDIC, the global federation representing the engineering and construction industry, has joined forces with the Solar Impulse Foundation (SIF) to promote sustainability in the sector. The two organisations have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on various initiatives aimed at driving the industry towards a cleaner future.
Bertrand Piccard, the founder of the Solar Impulse Foundation, emphasised the crucial role of engineers in leading this transition. 'Engineers are the ones who can make the difference,' he said, 'they are the ones who can create the solutions that will allow us to build a sustainable world.'
Dr. Nelson Ogunshakin, CEO of FIDIC, expressed his delight at the collaboration. He highlighted FIDIC's commitment to sustainability and addressing climate change, stating that the partnership with SIF will strengthen their efforts in this area. FIDIC represents over one million engineering professionals and 40,000 firms in around 100 countries, contributing around US$36 trillion to global GDP.
The two organisations will work together on various fronts, including training programs, advocacy, standards, best practices, and projects. Their goal is to promote innovative, environmentally friendly solutions in the construction and engineering sectors.
Through this strategic MoU, FIDIC and the Solar Impulse Foundation aim to accelerate the adoption of clean and cost-effective solutions in the engineering and construction industry. By combining their expertise and resources, the two organisations hope to drive significant progress towards a more sustainable future.
