MakeMyTrip and Zomato Partner to Enhance Train Travel Experience
MakeMyTrip, a leading travel booking platform, has partnered with Zomato, the popular food delivery service, to revolutionise train travel in India. This collaboration aims to provide passengers with greater convenience and choice, as they can now order meals from over 40,000 restaurants and have it delivered right to their train seat.
The new 'Food on Train' feature, available on the MakeMyTrip app, allows users to pre-book their meals days before their train journey, using their PNR number. This feature is accessible to those who have booked their train tickets via the MakeMyTrip app.
Raj Rishi Singh, Chief Business Officer (Flights, GCC, Corporate Travel) & Chief Marketing Officer at MakeMyTrip, stated that the Food on Train Marketplace is a significant step in enhancing the travel experience. He further added that the collaboration with Zomato is contributing to unlocking one of the fastest-growing consumption opportunities in India's mobility ecosystem.
Zomato VP-Product, Rahul Gupta, appreciated the collaboration, stating it allows train passengers to conveniently order meals from their favourite restaurants. The food delivery is updated with the 'Live Train Status' feature to ensure smooth and on-time delivery.
The partnership affects 130+ train stations, with the food delivery service provided by Zomato. Passengers can order breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner while traveling by train. This new feature is a response to the growing demand for food on trains.
To boost the food delivery sector on trains, MakeMyTrip has launched a Diwali offer for its customers. With every ticket booking, customers receive a Zomato coupon. This collaboration between MakeMyTrip and Zomato affects 23 train stations and is another step in enhancing the travel experience by giving passengers greater choice and convenience.
The Indian Railways' e-catering services have served over 90,000 passengers, and with the introduction of the Food on Train Marketplace, this number is expected to grow significantly. This collaboration between MakeMyTrip and Zomato is indeed a game-changer for train travel in India.
