Longest non-stop flight globally scheduled for December, spanning a duration of 29 hours.

Qantas and China Eastern Airlines have announced that they will operate the first commercial flight connecting antipodal cities, with the Shanghai Pudong - Auckland - Buenos Aires route set to take off on December 4. This new Air Silk Road route is expected to provide a more efficient travel option for passengers traveling between the Asia-Pacific region and South America.

The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will be used for this journey, offering a direct connection between the two continents, unlike the previous fastest option which required a stopover in Paris or Amsterdam. Although billed as a 'direct' flight, it's not non-stop due to the Auckland stop, where passengers can disembark and rest for two hours.

The new Air Silk Road route significantly reduces travel time compared to the previous fastest option, which took nearly 31 hours. The journey to Buenos Aires will take approximately 25.5 hours, while the return trip will take approximately 29 hours.

It's important to note that the new Air Silk Road route does not hold the record for the longest route, as this record is still held by Singapore Airlines' non-stop flight between Singapore's Changi and New York's JFK airport, which lasts 18 hours.

This new route is seen as a significant step in establishing a new 'Air Silk Road' channel between the Asia-Pacific region and South America. China Eastern Airlines is selling tickets for this claimed longest direct flight in the world.

Prior to this direct flight, the fastest way to travel from Shanghai to Buenos Aires was via Air France and Lufthansa. The new Air Silk Road route offers a direct connection between the Asia-Pacific region and South America, unlike the previous fastest option.

The Shanghai Pudong - Auckland - Buenos Aires route will be the first commercial route connecting antipodal cities, making it a historic milestone in air travel. So, get ready to experience the longest direct flight in the world with Qantas and China Eastern Airlines!
