Luxury motorhome, valued at £1.3 million, earns top design accolade

The Brabus Big Boy 1200, a groundbreaking motorhome, has made waves in the world of luxury vehicles. This 12-meter (39 feet) long vehicle, converted by STX Motorhomes and based on the Mercedes Actros, has been turning heads with its unique blend of supercar-level performance and five-star hotel suite opulence.

The Big Boy 1200 stretches nearly 4.5 meters (15 feet) wide when its powered slide-outs are extended, creating over 30 square meters (323 square feet) of luxurious living space. This expansive area houses a master suite, a fully equipped modern kitchen, a luxurious bathroom, and a central living area, all adorned with premium materials such as fine leather, Alcantara, and carbon fiber.

Two major powertrain variants are available for the Big Boy 1200. The first is a Brabus-tuned 6.0L twin-turbo V12 engine producing 1,200 horsepower and over 1,500 Nm of torque, enabling a sub-5-second 0–100 km/h (62 mph) sprint—unprecedented for a motorhome. The second option is a 12.8-litre six-cylinder turbodiesel hybrid engine, delivering 390 kW (530 hp, 523 bhp) with a massive 2,600 Nm of torque. Both variants feature adaptive air suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes, and torque-vectoring all-wheel drive for superior handling and safety.

The Big Boy 1200's interior is a five-star suite on wheels. The rear bedroom boasts a king-sized memory foam bed with a massage function, high-end wood finishes, ambient lighting (including a starlight roof), privacy glass with electrochromic tint, and extensive concealed storage. The living area is equipped with dual 43-inch 4K TVs, a PlayStation 5, a high-end audio system, Starlink satellite internet, and an onboard Wi-Fi router for seamless connectivity.

Other notable features include automated climate control, 360° camera surveillance, and smart home-style automation for comfort and security. Energy needs are catered to with eight solar panels, a large storage battery, and a generator, ensuring off-grid energy reliability.

The Brabus Big Boy 1200, with its award-winning design (having recently won the “Red Dot: Best of the Best 2025”), extreme power, lavish interiors, advanced connectivity, and technology, is not just a standout among RVs, but in the world of luxury vehicles as a whole. However, it will not be on display at the next two shows due to the Camping & Caravanning Club's decision to pause its attendance.
