Marr Contracting Wins HS2 Crane Contract, Backing BBVSJV's Innovative Methods

Marr Contracting, led by Simon Marr, has secured a significant contract to provide heavy lifting crane services for HS2's Old Oak Common station. The company's innovative approach, praised by Marr himself, aligns with BBVSJV's preferred construction methods. Meanwhile, the UK government reaffirms its commitment to completing the Birmingham to London HS2 leg on time.

Simon Marr, Managing Director of Marr Contracting, commended BBVSJV for their innovative cranage solutions. His company has been awarded the contract to deliver heavy lifting crane services for HS2's Old Oak Common station. Marr Contracting specialises in efficient construction solutions, having successfully completed major projects like data centres, including one finished in just 35 weeks by optimizing crane placement.

The contract, awarded by Balfour Beatty Vinci Systra Joint Venture (BBVSJV), sees Marr's cranes expected onsite in early 2025. These heavy lift luffing cranes will support BBVSJV's preferred Design for Manufacture and Assembly and Modern Methods of Construction methodology. Marr's three-crane solution for the project aims to declutter the site and simplify construction.

The UK government remains committed to completing the Birmingham to London HS2 leg, including this station, promptly. Meanwhile, the third annual CiTTi Awards, celebrating transport planning achievements and innovations, will be held on 26 November 2024 in London.
