Norwegian Air Boosts Billund Airport with 10 New Flights in 2026
Billund Airport has secured a significant boost with Norwegian Air Shuttle announcing the addition of ten new flights from spring 2026. The expansion, facilitated by Danish Air Transport (DAT), will introduce new destinations and increase connectivity for passengers in western Denmark.
The new routes, set to commence in 2026, include popular European cities such as Barcelona, Bergamo, Edinburgh, Rome, and Naples, as well as sunny getaways like Las Palmas, Porto, and Chania. Additionally, passengers can look forward to flights to Malta and Nice. Currently, Norwegian offers flights to Malaga, Alicante, Oslo, London Gatwick, and Palma de Mallorca from Billund.
Norwegian CEO Geir Karlsen expressed that these new flights cater to a clear demand from Danish travellers, particularly those in western Denmark. The expansion is expected to enhance accessibility for both business and leisure travel. This news comes as a welcome relief following Ryanair's withdrawal from Billund earlier this year.
With Norwegian's expansion, Billund Airport will see its destination count grow from 5 to 15 by spring 2026. Airport director Jan Hessellund commended Norwegian as a reliable and respected airline, citing their close relationship as a key factor in securing the new agreement. This development is set to benefit frequent passengers in central and southern Jutland regions.
