Least Appreciated Airports in Germany - Ranking of Airports: Airports in Germany with the Lowest Ratings

A world of contrasts - that's the tourist's viewpoint when looking at Germany's airports. While Berlin Brandenburg Airport garners a Google rating of just 3.2, it's seen a remarkable improvement, making it the "World's Most Improved Airport" at this year's World Airport Awards.

Germany's Airport Rankings Based on Google Reviews

This incredible small improvement, a mere 0.1-star boost on Google, was enough to earn the title. The data comes from AirHelp, a company that's compiled a list of the most and least popular airports in Germany based on search engine reviews. They analyzed around 300,000 Google reviews, with larger airports naturally garnering more mentions. Frankfurt/Main, ranked 6th, was mentioned 72,000 times, while Rostock-Laage, ranked 2nd, was only mentioned 543 times.

The Cream of the Crop

Surprisingly, only small airports like Lübeck-Blankensee (ranked 1st), Kassel-Calden (ranked 2nd), and Paderborn/Lippstadt (ranked 3rd) top the list. The reason for their success? With fewer flights, managing operations and infrastructure suits the manageable number of passengers.

  • Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) - Google Reviews: 4.3 stars

Note: According to AirHelp’s findings, Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) stands out, ranking second nationwide with a score of 4.3 stars[2][4]. However, AirHelp has not publicly released a list of the lowest-rated German airports based on Google reviews.

In international rankings, eight of the world’s ten lowest-ranked airports are in Europe, but German airports are not individually singled out among the worst[1]. To find the least popular German airports, further research may be required.

  1. The community policy of these highly-rated German airports might prioritize addressing travelers' feedback to ensure a positive lifestyle experience during their trips, contributing to the high Google ratings.
  2. Considering their top scores in employer reviews, it's possible that these airports have implemented employment policies that encourage sports and recreational activities for their staff, which could lead to a more engaging work environment and ultimately contribute to a better travel experience for passengers.
