Safest Destination for Tourists: Reykjavik Tops the List
The Lowdown on the World's Top Tourist-Friendly Spots
According to Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection Insurance Company, Reykjavík takes the crown as the safest city for tourists to roam around, followed by Copenhagen and Montreal. In total, 29 cities worldwide made the cut.
The company's list factors in feedback from travelers who visited the 29 cities, as well as other trusted sources like the Economist's Safe Cities index, GeoSure Global indicator, and Numbeo's Crime Index.
While Reykjavík boasts top marks for safety, don't think for a second that trouble-free travel is guaranteed. Carol Mueller, president of the insurance company, warns that unexpected hurdles can pop up, such as flight delays, lost luggage, or illness.
On a domestic front, traveling in the Netherlands, then Denmark, and Iceland ranks as the safest. Last year, Iceland snagged the title of the safest destination.
