Scotland's grand passenger train upgrades its luxury offerings further
Stepping onto Belmond's opulent train, the Royal Scotsman, you're greeted by a red carpet and the captivating sound of bagpipes. With the captain's words echoing, 'The train never waits', it's clear this journey through the Scottish Highlands is no ordinary ride.
To mark four decades of enchanting travellers, this overnight train has leveled up its luxuriousness, promising an even more indulgent voyage. From the iconic Forth Railway Bridge to the picturesque northwest, the train's recent upgrades ensure a magical experience.
Embracing Grandeur: New Suites on the Royal Scotsman
Last spring, the Magpie Grand Suites made their grand entrance, adding an extra layer of elegance to the train's Edwardian-inspired accommodations. Designer Tristan Auer masterfully crafted these suites to exude both luxury and warmth, incorporating traditional Scottish motifs and tapestries.
But the spotlight now shines on the recently introduced Heron Grand Suite. A. Dunn & Sons, a prestigious heritage studio, created the suite's marquetry, replicating patterns inspired by the Highlands' dramatic valleys and rugged landscapes. With Araminta Campbell's rich jacquard fabrics in mossy greens and warm beiges, and Joshua Williams' elegant ceramic basins, the suite oozes craftsmanship and sophistication.
The suite boasts a double bed, a dressing table, and a Scottish larch dining table, ensuring comfort and elegance at every turn. In-cabin dining, complete with personalized butler service and a tailored minibar, can be arranged for those seeking a more intimate experience. The ultimate touch: a complimentary spa treatment at the train's Dior Spa, part of the luxurious Eastern & Oriental Express.
