Starting April 17, 2025, travelers seeking alternative means of transportation for long-distance journeys can now enjoy a new Railjet connection from Munich to the Adriatic coast. This service, offered by the Austrian Federal Railways, will link Bavaria directly to Italy's Le Marche region, enhancing overall connectivity between Munich and Ancona.
The new connection from Munich Central Station aims to cater to those preferring train travel over extended car rides or flights. The Railjet will make a total of 19 stops, en route to Ancona, including Innsbruck, Bolzano, Verona, Bologna, and Rimini. The train is expected to depart Munich at 9:33 AM and reach Ancona around 7:15 PM, thus taking approximately nine and a half hours. service will be available until October 6, 2025, marking the end of the summer season.
For those interested in booking tickets for this route, they can already do so on the ÖBB website. While prices for the initial April period are currently high, around 150 euros per ticket, fares significantly drop in May, with tickets priced at around 60 euros.
