In the heart of Tbilisi, Georgia, the drum and bass (DNB) scene is making a significant impact. The vibrant electronic music culture in the city, long renowned for its techno scene, now includes a thriving DNB community.

DNB Georgia, a local collective, has been instrumental in this development. They have organised events, fostered a local platform for DNB artists, and collaborated with notable venues such as TillaTec, Tresor.West, and Reflector. This collaboration has helped to strengthen the DNB presence alongside other electronic music genres in the city.

The DNB Georgia collective has identified several local DJs and producers with potential to make an impression beyond Georgia's borders. These include The Machete Boyz, Multi, P1tt, AWKilla, Nava, The Shining One, MX, Chromie, Slah Tah, and the Sioni Hi-Fi Crew. The Sioni Hi-Fi Crew, known for their versatility in various bass heavy genres, have even hosted DNB sets at the popular venue TES.

Bassiani, a nightclub located in a former Olympic swimming pool beneath the national football stadium, is considered to be on par with Berghain in Berlin. The likes of Ben Klock and Nina Kraviz have performed at Bassiani, drawing international attention to the Georgian DNB scene. Internationally recognised artists, such as Magnetude, have also performed at two events in Georgia over the past year.

Rustam from Magnetude suggests creating a multi-genre music event to introduce more Georgian people to the DNB scene. DNB Georgia has begun organising events in smaller venues around Tbilisi to achieve this goal. They have also set up a record label, releasing tracks under their official label, some of which will feature lyrics in Georgian.

In addition, DNB Georgia records audio and video podcasts by residents on their label, as well as guest performances, to help spread the word on social media. Georgia attracted 5.4 million tourists in 2022, with many drawn to the country's mountainous scenery, ski resorts, historical and cultural mix, and lively nightlife scene. The DNB scene in Georgia is attracting attention from these visitors, as well as from internationally recognised artists.

With big ambitions, DNB Georgia aims to collaborate with internationally recognised D&B artists, large labels, and festivals in other countries. As the DNB scene in Georgia continues to grow, it is a nation to keep a close eye on for the adventurous raver. Georgia, with its rich history and thriving electronic music scene, is a new frontier in the world of drum and bass.
